French web hosting company OVH.com has announced plans to expand its presence in Montréal. The web hosting company is one of Europe’s largest with six data centres and 110,000 servers providing service in Western and Eastern Europe, Canada, the U.S., Morocco, the Netherlands, Senegal, and Tunisia. OVH.com will work with Cologix, a U.S. collocation company with a carrier hotel in downtown Montréal.
Cologix makes the perfect partner for OVH.com because they are a network neutral interconnection provider. Their Montréal data centre is the only place in Canada where all of the networks OVH.com is interested in connect in one place. Currently there are 70 networks available through Cologix’ Meet-Me-Room platform. The platform currently provides Canadian companies with a place to operate content delivery systems, financial systems, telecom services, and standard web hosting.
“As the number 1 web hosting company in Europe, OVH.com has built a reputable web solutions company with more than 400,000 corporate customers and 8,000,000 clients,” said Cologix Canada president Sean Maskell. “We are proud that they have chosen the network neutral Cologix platform to enable their growth in Montreal and we look forward to introducing them to the web solution buyers in Quebec.”
In a related story, high speed Internet company AboveNet Inc. announced late last week their plan to connect to the Cologix data centre in Toronto. They see Toronto as the biggest and most robust market in Canada and one of the leading opportunities in North America. By accessing Cologix Toronto AboveNet will be strategically positioned to make a strong push for a dominant market share in the greater Toronto area.
