Most of us probably know GoDaddy as the web hosting provider responsible for some of the industry’s raciest commercials. But to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) the company is so much more than that. For the last five years, GoDaddy has been a major sponsor for the foundation’s annual Walk to Cure Diabetes, sending hundreds of employees out to walk while raising in excess of $730,000 for the cause. This year is no exception. GoDaddy employees pounded the pavement last Saturday along with hundreds of thousands of others across the United-States.
“We’ve seen progress in the fight against diabetes, but there’s much more work to be done,” said GoDaddy CEO Bob Parsons. “GoDaddy signed on five years ago because we wanted to help make a difference in the lives of children and families. We can’t think of a better way to do that than by helping JDRF beat this terrible disease.”
JDRF Desert Southwest Chapter Executive Director Ken Brissa praised GoDaddy as the type of sponsor any similar group would love to have. In official comments, he mentioned the company’s dedication and passion in helping find a cure for juvenile diabetes as evidenced by employees giving of their own time and money.
This year’s contribution from GoDaddy is even more significant, thanks to the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes being one of the recipients of the company’s Round up for Charity program. The program offers customers the opportunity to contribute financially by rounding up their purchases to the nearest dollar. The extra money collected goes to the various organizations selected by GoDaddy.
