GoDaddy, the global web hosting provider, returns as the title sponsor for the sixth consecutive year on November 3, 2012 for the JDRF ‘Walk to Cure Diabetes.’
GoDaddy has been working with JDRF for a number of years and has, so far, donated over $1 million dollars to the organisation. JDRF uses the money to fund research for the devastating illness of type 1 diabetes.
People of all ages are welcome to come to the event at the Tempe Town Lake in Arizona at 7:30am on Saturday. As of this writing, over 20,000 walkers are expected to participate in this 5K walk. The event is not only designed to help fund research into the illness, it’s designed to raise awareness about the illness.
Jason Swencki, an employee of GoDaddy whose son suffers from the illness, said: “GoDaddy takes care of its customers and the community,” He continued: “Out family walks every year to raise money and bring awareness to this life-changing battle. Not only will my son have his family there to support him Saturday – but thousands of others who, like GoDaddy, have a strong sense of responsibility to give back to the community will be there with us.”
GoDaddy customers are encouraged to donate to the ‘Round Up for Charity’ program, and so far the response has been fantastic. Customers have donated over $150,000 for the event in loose change. It’s expected that this money will go a long way to helping the JDRF organisation fund this critical research.
JDRF Desert Southwest Chapter Executive Director Cindy Adams said of GoDaddy’s contribution to proceedings: “GoDaddy’s commitment as title sponsor of the walk the past six years and the generosity of their employees and customers has been remarkable. GoDaddy does more than write a check to support our cause.”
