This past weekend was an important one for GoDaddy, the web hosting service known for its titillating commercials with well-known and good-looking celebrities. As first reported on Monday the 26th, the web hosting service registered a new domain name for an Indian business, bringing the company’s total registrations to 50 million. That makes GoDaddy the only Internet registrar to manage that number of domains.
Kranthi Kumar Kukkala had no idea he was number 50 million when he registered the domain over the weekend. He simply chose GoDaddy because he’s already online and he appreciates their customer service, easy-to-use software, and functionality. When asked about the milestone Kukkala had nothing but good to say about GoDaddy. He even wished the company well in its future endeavours.
According to GoDaddy officials the significance of registering 50 million domain names is that it is proof the Internet remains a robust marketplace even in the midst of worldwide economic downturn. As traditional manufacturing businesses and brick-and-mortar retailers struggle to stay above water, the Internet is booming with opportunities for creative entrepreneurs. Web hosting companies able to harness the ever expanding venue to provide customers maximum benefits are the ones most likely to lead this new generation into a whole new world.
For GoDaddy’s part, they’ve been contributing more than their fair share, having registered, transferred, or renewed at least one domain name every second for the last several years. They are certainly doing their part to ensure that projections of 3 billion Internet users around the world by 2015 becomes a reality.
