Earlier this week iWeb announced significant changes to its dedicated server business with the introduction of two new support packages. A press release dated Tuesday, October 11 detailed the two new support packages now available to current customers. The announcement comes less than a week after the company revealed it had created a new business entity to take over all of its shared hosting business.
The first of the new packages has been dubbed “Managed on Demand” and allows customers two hours of server management time to be used for consulting with iWeb technicians or getting emergency technical support. That package is currently priced at $75 per month.
The second package is known as “Rapid Response” and it provides both hardware monitoring and critical TCP monitoring on a 24/7 basis. As part of this package iWeb guarantees a response time of no longer than 15 minutes in which a member of the tech team will get the affected services started again. Rapid Response is currently priced at $49 per month.
With the introduction of these two packages it appears as though iWeb will waste no time in pushing forward with its plans to spin off shared hosting in favour of concentrating on higher-end services. When their spinoff of shared web hosting is complete their new entity, named Funio, will be an independent and fully-functioning company of its own. Completion of the transfer is expected to be done early next year. Until then, Funio continues to operate as an iWeb company in order to make the transition as smooth as possible for existing shared hosting customers.
