For almost a year, CEO Eric Chouinard has served as interim Chief Operating Officer for Canadian-based web hosting company iWeb. He took on that rule when the company went private in June of last year. But according to a recent announcement from iWeb, technology professional Christian Primeau has been named to the position of President and Chief Operating Officer. The announcement fills a large hole in the ranks of iWeb officers and allows Chouinard to focus all of his attention on his own duties.
Primeau is a technology and telecommunications veteran, having spent some 12 years with Sun Microsystems in a variety of positions including VP of partners and alliances. He’s also worked for Bell Canada as VP of Québec sales.
“I have long talked about our intent to grow iWeb into a $100 million business, and the Chief Operating Officer’s role is vitally important to attaining that level of revenue,” remarked Mr. Chouinard. “It’s hard to overstate its importance, strategically speaking. Success leaves a trail, and since iWeb’s privatization, last year, we have been following the impressive trail left by Christian. It takes a particular mix of expertise and vision to lead iWeb’s operations to the next level, and Christian’s resourcefulness and drive will be important elements of iWeb’s future!”
With the new hires and refocused vision iWeb hopes to make great strides in redefining the cloud hosting business. Company officials envision a “kinder and gentler” cloud that provides all the features, flexibility, and security customers need while still being easy to implement and manage at the user level. iWeb officials have their eye on very rapid growth going into the future.
