In the midst of a full company restructuring, Canadian web hosting provider Uniserve Communications has added two new faces to its finance department. Last Thursday, company CEO Mike Schmidt announced the appointment of Mr. Chris Convey as Uniserve’s new chief financial officer (CFO). Convey brings to the table years of experience as a chartered management accountant, with special knowledge of tech-industry venture capital. He has served in a variety of commercial and financial roles at companies including British Telecom and Cable & Wireless.
According to Uniserve officials Convey has the skills and knowledge necessary to execute the company’s financial strategies in order to reach its goals. Interim CFO Anne Wong remains with Uniserve as human resources manager.
Former PwC chartered accountant Kelly Cunningham has also been brought on as financial controller. PwC is a global tax and finance management company with offices all over the world, including the Vancouver office where Cunningham worked. Her extensive knowledge in day-to-day accounting and taxation means she is well-qualified to help manage Uniserve’s finances. Schmidt gave both Convey and Cunningham ringing endorsements during yesterday’s announcement.
“The addition of Chris and Kelly is the key step to completing the restructuring of the company,” he said. “This gives Uniserve the solid financial planning and execution capabilities to fully establish Uniserve as Canada’s Public Cloud.”
Uniserve Communications is based in Vancouver, where it provides web hosting, cloud computing, collocation, voice and data services, and managed services to both consumer and retail customers. They currently have plans for a new data centre at the site of their recently opened Vancouver headquarters.
