Customers of Web Hosting Canada will be pleased to learn the company has now made available five different versions of PHP simultaneously. What’s more, customers can change versions on the fly directly from their cPanel as often as they like. The available versions include:
PHP is a server-side scripting language used by developers to run web applications. Web Hosting Canada has decided to make all five versions available side-by-side due to the vast differences in modern applications. The ability to switch between PHP versions gives developers and web hosting customers greater flexibility in how their services are used.
Beginning Monday 9 September the default PHP version was upgraded to 5.4.19 on all Web Hosting Canada servers. The upgrade may affect older deployments where web applications require a previous version. Web Hosting Canada encourages all of their customers to run a quick test on their site to make sure everything is working properly.
Along with the PHP upgrade, the company also beefed up security measures with a new deployment of the CloudLinux CageFS environment. It’s not expected that this deployment will have any adverse effect on any of the sites the company currently hosts. Customers who do experience problems should contact Web Hosting Canada right away.
